Jimmy Olsen's Confrontation With His Cousin Chris
The Jimmy Olsen character of the first season was quite different from Jimmy Olsen of the later years. First season Jimmy may have been a little naive, but he was daring, and in many instances, brave. In these scenes we watch Jimmy during a visit with his Aunt Louisa on Moose Island, off the coast of Maine ... where not everything is as it should be. (And I'm curious about how the knife throw was accomplished.)

Corky Knows (The Dog Who Knew Superman)

During the first season of the Adventures of Superman, Connie and Ace learn that Superman and Kent are the same person. At the end of "The Stolen Costume," however, that happy couple conveniently fall off a mountain, and Superman's secret is preserved. That is, until season two when Corky sniffs his way into Clark Kent's life. His furry friend survives ... but in my opinion, "The Dog Who Knew S...

"Yes, it's Superman, strange visitor...

After Clark Kent, uses his super hearing to learn the details of a planned armored car robbery, he must convince Henderson of the facts and then capture the crooks ... as Superman! In some of the earliest episodes Superman is still an unknown figure to some people in Metropolis as indicated by Davis' line, "Stay away from me, whoever your are, or I'll shoot." "All That Glitters" is the final episode in the "Adventures of Superman." Directed by George Reeves, this is a fanciful tale in which Jimmy dreams that he and Lois have all the powers of Superman ... including the ability to fly. Featured in this episode are Dick Elliott as the banker and Myrna Fahey as his secretary. Almost ten years later, Fahey appeared as Blaze in episodes 17/18 of "Batman....

During its six-season run, the ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN presented a variety of stories that featured a range hard-hitting crime dramas, tales of science fiction, and human interest stories. Filmed in 1956, "Mr Zero" featuring Billy Curtis as a man from Mars who was exiled to Earth for being too small was obviously designed as one of those "ju...

"Around The World With Superman" (1953) is not without some conflict and frustration, but basically, it's an episode filled with warmth and hope. In this clip, watch as Superman and Ann leave, supposedly through the window. I'm pretty sure, however, that George Reeves actually steps up onto a box by the window and "hides in the corner" as the others watch Superman fly away with Ann in his arms....

And at the outro, I love the way that they say "as appearing in Superman magazine" instead of "as appearing in the Superman comic books." I still recall my first Batman magazine that I ever bought. It was sold in the same area as the magazines of the day. I still have it in my collection, worn and tattered, as I read it over and over again.

We had a stunt coordinator working in a factory with me years ago after being injured on a stunt. All this baloney about doing their own stunts is nonsense. The stuntmen's union wouldn't allow it, movies are shot out of order, so a tiny scar in 1 scene might not be there in a different part of the same scene shot later, and a slight or major injury could cost the studio a fortune in paying people to sit around while the actor heals, if he does.

Adventures of Superman (a.k.a. Superman and The Adventures of Superman), which was a syndicated program, rather than being tied to a network series. It first aired on different syndicated TV stations from September 19, 1952 to April 28, 1958. ABC-TV aired episodes in its "Fun At Five" series from October 2, 1957 to September 24, 1958, during the 1957-58 season. Following cancellation, producers planned to continue Adventures of Superman in 1959 with two more years' worth of episodes, to begin airing in the 1960 season. It was later seen in syndicated reruns on various local stations, starting in 1965 during the 60’s and 70’s, when all the episodes were reshown in color. It was then later ran on WWOR-TV (channel 9) from 1987 to 1991, during the late 80’s and early 90’s, and they also ran a Thanksgiving marathon called “Superman Festival” featured selected episodes of Superman, and it was hosted by Jack Larsen, who played Jimmy Olson in the TV program. And what they did, they showed unrestored prints of the original show, before it went into restoration. These episodes that WWOR-TV aired came from 16mm film chain copies. Then it was aired on both Nickelodeon and Nick@Nite from September 20, 1991 to September 3, 1995. It was reran on TV Land from 2000 to 2004. Then was reran on Saturday evenings on Me-TV from September 6, 2014 to September 10, 2016. The series also aired weekdays on Heroes & Icons digital subchannels.

IMO, there are moments in this show when the characters, like Lois or Jimmy--especially Jimmy--seemed like they knew Kent was Superman. It seemed to be a wink and nod to each other, as if the characters knew it would be a real bad idea if his identity was revealed. I wish I had the opportunity to ask Jack Larson or either Loises if that knowledge--as the character--was in their subtext. What great acting for a kid's show. My favorite of all time. Thanks for the post!

Well, Jimmy WAS a cub reporter. And he was often brave in later years, traveling with Lois to protect her. Yes, that knife appears to actually be thrown. I wonder if that, in addition to George falling to the ground from those cables, resulted in the removal of Danny Hays in favor of Si Simonson. I also thought it was funny that Superman was the announcer at 2:05. They couldn't get anyone else? .And did you notice that the clouds at 1:26 were wallpaper ? LOL

What I enjoyed was the way that Clark Kent seemed to always find a way to hint at his secret identity without either confirming or denying that he was Superman, in the "Adventures Of Superman" TV series at the end of each episode of the series. Of course we the audience felt like we were with Superman / Clark Kent when it came to his jokes.
